Local church to stream Calvin College series

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 7650 N. Paseo Del Norte, will show Calvin College’s “January Series.”

The church will digitally broadcast the lecture series as speakers such as David Brooks of The New York Times; Eric O’Neill, a former FBI counter-terrorism and counterintelligence operative; and Bethany Haley Williams, a psychologist, discuss issues such as faith, security and health.

The church will live stream the series from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, starting Wednesday, Jan. 6 through Tuesday, Jan. 26, according to press materials.

Bible study at home program to launch

Pastor Alma Jones will launch a program for Christians interested in opening up their homes for Bible study from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Jones, a longtime member at Casas Church, will share at Murphy-Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road, about her vision for the organization Home Churches for Christ.

“So many people are searching to be involved in church but don’t know how,” Jones said.

“We can all be ministers in our own homes if we pray and ask God who to invite in.”

This is the first informational meeting about the program, which seeks to train Christians to host Bible study, prayer and worship in their homes, a setting often more comfortable than church, Jones says.

For more information, call Jones at 429-3806.
