Winter at Reid Park Zoo is bathed in the warm glow of holiday lights, but once the mercury starts to rise and the temperatures soar into the 80s, the 90s and beyond the dreaded century mark, we all forget those chilly warm-and-fuzzy holiday lights nights.
Instead, we turn our attention to beer.
And bears.
As in having a beer with a bear.
OK, not really, because bears don’t drink beer — that we know of — but for three hours Saturday, June 16, we can sample craft beers from some of Tucson’s most popular brewers not far from the bears.
Time for the annual Brew at the Zoo fundraiser featuring craft beer samples from two dozen Arizona brewers, most from Tucson: Button Brew House, Borderlands, Barrio Brewing, 1912 Brewing Co., Dragoon, Copper Mine Brewing, Crooked Tooth, Blackrock, Catalina, Dillinger, Green Feet, Grand Canyon, Hardbottle, Public Brewhouse, Pueblo Vida, Sentinnel Peak and Thunder Canyon.
Money raised is used to support the zoo’s education programs, conservation efforts and improvement projects.
Brew at the Zoo is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the zoo, 3400 E. Zoo Court, off East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road. Tickets are $45 in advance ($40 for zoo members) at reidparkzoo.org; it’s $10 more at the gate.
