Garden gnome prop from Beatles LP cover sells for $42,500

WHAT: A garden gnome prop featured on the cover of the Beatles LP “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” sold for $42,500 recently at Heritage Auctions. The 20-inch tall cardboard cutout was signed by all four members immediately following the shoot.

MORE: After the cover shoot, the gnome was selected as a memento by an assistant to the photographer. It was later framed with an unopened stereo copy of the LP.
