This cardboard prop, signed by all four Beatles, turned out to be a rare and valuable collectible.

WHAT: A garden gnome prop featured on the cover of the Beatles LP β€œSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” sold for $42,500 recently at Heritage Auctions. The 20-inch tall cardboard cutout was signed by all four members immediately following the shoot.

MORE: After the cover shoot, the gnome was selected as a memento by an assistant to the photographer. It was later framed with an unopened stereo copy of the LP.

SMART COLLECTORS KNOW: Today’s collectors clamor for signed Beatles memorabilia.

HOT TIP: Sold in an Entertainment and Music Memorabilia auction held in Beverly Hills, the sale was moved from Heritage HQ in Dallas to the capital of show business and fandom.
