A 62-year-old man shot and killed his neighbor in an unprovoked attack Tuesday then turned the gun on himself Marana police say.

A Marana man fatally shot his neighbor then turned the gun on himself, police say.

The shooting happened just before noon Tuesday in the 12000 block of North Paseo Penuela, near West Tangerine and North Thornydale roads, Marana Police said in a news release.

Officers were called to the neighborhood for a reported shooting where they found a body of a man who had been shot inside a garage, the release said. His name has not been released by police.

Witnesses told officers that the gunman was a neighbor who’d returned to his house after the killing, the release said.

Police surrounded the neighbors house and eventually found Oscar Octavio Baca, 62, dead inside. Police say they believe Baca shot himself, the release said.

The shooting appears unprovoked, the release said.
