A 37-year-old man has been arrested on felony charges in connection with the armed robbery of two women who were hiking in Tucson Mountain Park in late January, authorities say.

On January 27, two elderly hikers told deputies they had been robbed at gunpoint near McCain Loop, west of Tucson, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday in a news release.

Investigators eventually located the vehicle used in the alleged robbery and identified the driver as Jesse Guinane, 37. On Feb. 28, detectives questioned Guinane and he was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of armed robbery, one count of felony tampering and one count of felony burglary, the release said.

A search of Guinane's home resulted in the discovery of the gun investigators say was used in the robbery as well as property belonging to the two hikers, the release said.

Guinane was booked into the Pima County jail, the release said.
