Emma Votapek, Ellen Chamberlain, Benjamin Nisbet and Anne Gratz — the Kingfisher String Quartet — will help open Dove of Peace Lutheran Church’s 10th classical concert season.

Dove of Peace Lutheran Church opens its 10th season of free classical music concerts on Sunday with Mozart, a pair of Sashas and one of Tucson’s finest string quartets.

First the Mozart: The program includes Mozart’s Flute Quartet in D major; his Piano Quartet in E-flat Major; and his Divertimento in D major and Divertimento in B-flat Major.

Next the Sashas: As in Tucson Symphony Orchestra principal flutist Alexander “Sasha” Lipay and popular Tucson pianist and Pima Community College instructor Alexander “Sasha” Tentser. The pair, both Russian natives, have been performing as Duo Alexander since summer 2008.

About that quartet: The Kingfisher String Quartet — violinists Benjamin Nisbet and Ellen Chamberlain, violist Emma Noël Votapek and cellist Anne Gratz, all moonlighting TSO musicians — also has been performing together since 2008. They are joining hands as artistic partners in the 10th anniversary Dove of Peace series.

Admission to the Dove of Peace series is free, but the church collects donations that are designated for a different community charity each concert. For this concert, the recipient will be Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, which offers services to those afflicted with HIV and AIDS.

Sunday’s concert begins at 2 p.m. at Dove of Peace, 665 W. Roller Coaster Road, just west of Oracle Road.

Other concerts in the series:

  • Beethoven Piano Sonatas, Feb. 23, continues the series’ look at all of the composer’s solo piano works.
  • Happy Birthday Bach, March 22.
  • An afternoon with the Kingfisher Quartet, April 13.
