Tucson police have arrested 34-year-old John David Ward, who is suspected of hitting a bicyclist with his car and leaving the scene on May 8, authorities said.

Ward was booked into the Pima County jail Thursday on one felony count of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident, according to a post on Tucson Police Department's Facebook page.

Police responded to reports of a hit-and-run involving just after 2 a.m., in the area of West Rillito Street and North 11th Avenue.

Police learned that the bicyclist was traveling north on 11th Avenue approaching West Rillito. The driver of a white vehicle ran a stop sign and made a wide turn, striking the bicyclist before leaving the scene, police said.
