Border Patrol agents stymied a human smuggling event this week and arrested 11 undocumented individuals attempting to cross the border in a van fashioned to look like a Border Patrol vehicle, the agency said.Β

According to authorities, one agent was injured during the arrest of the smuggled passengers and the van’s driver. Assault charges against the driver are being pursued, Border Patrol officials said in a Facebook post Saturday. They did not say how serious the agent's injuries were.Β

The incident took place in Newfield, Arizona, which is on the border with Mexico and about 93 miles southwest of Tucson.

This was the second "cloned" "border patrol" vehicle intercepted by Three Points Station agents in a week, the agency said.

Pictures taken at the scene by border agents show the professional-looking nature of the cloned van, including lights, logos and paint to match.
