A group of protesters have closed exit ramps from Interstate 10 near West Congress Street.Β
The protesters began marching after rallying in front of the federal courthouse on the corner of Congress and North Granada Avenue Monday afternoon. They gathered to protest a not-guilty verdict in the trial of Lonnie Swartz, a Border Patrol agent who was accused of second-degree murder in the 2012 fatal cross-border shooting of Jose Antonio Elena Rodriguez, 16.Β
Protesters closed the intersection of Congress and Granada for about 30 minutes before starting to march through downtown Tucson.
The jury could not reach a verdict on two lesser charges of voluntary or involuntary manslaughter.Β

They carried signs saying "Stop the killings by Border Patrol" and "Demand justice for Jose Antonio Elena Rodriguez" and "End border militarization."Β
