An inmate at a federal penitentiary in Tucson was pronounced dead from an apparent suicide on Wednesday night, authorities said in a press release.

Frank Marshall,28, was found unresponsive by U.S. Penitentiary staff at approximately 6:40 p.m. and further staff assistance was immediately called in to perform life saving measures.

Emergency Medical Services also responded to a request to further assist in continuing efforts to save Marshall's life, the release said.

He was pronounced dead by medical services staff shortly after they arrived and began to assist in the efforts.

According to the release, The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified of the incident by the staff and it is currently being investigated as an apparent suicide.Β 

Marshall arrived at the penitentiary on Oct.27 and was serving a 15-year-sentence for various sex offenses.
