“Doughnut Dan,” the guy who brought Krispy Kreme to Marana in June, is ready to open his second Tucson store on Friday.
The new shop is at 7805 N. Oracle Road, in the former It’s A Grind coffee house.
Franchise owner Dan Brinton opened the first one at 8260 N. Cortaro Road amid lots of fanfare and giveaways, and this next one is no exception.
The doors will open at 5:30 a.m., and festivities include an appearance by the UA pom line and giveaways.
The first 100 customers to pass the cash register get a “Bear Down on a Doughnut” travel mug good for free refills at Krispy Kreme for one year. You can also buy a T-shirt with a dozen reasons to “Bear Down on a Doughnut” for $10.
Brinton, who has six Krispy Kreme franchises in the Phoenix area, hopes to open a third in the Tucson area by the end of the year. He’s been taking suggestions for locations on his Facebook page, where he goes by “Doughnut Dan.” A ton of people have suggested the eastside, but now he needs to fine-tune the search.
