A hiker was found dead Saturday in Saguaro National Park's west unit, officials said.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said search-and-rescue teams and a DPS helicopter were called in shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday to search for a 57-year-old man, who had gone missing while hiking on the Hugh Norris Trailhead. The man had separated from his hiking group at about 11:45 a.m.

Just after 8 p.m., searchers found the man dead about a quarter-mile from the trailhead, according to a news release from the department.

Searchers found an empty water bottle and an empty CamelBak water container with the man. His body was taken to the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy, but the death is believed to be heat related, the sheriff's department said.

The high Saturday in Tucson was 95 degrees.
