STK emergency

No criminal violations occurred in the death of a 9-year-old girl last week at a Tucson elementary school, investigators say.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday night that it concluded its investigation into the girl’s Nov. 17 death. β€œAt this time no criminal violations have been identified,” the department said in a news release.

The girl, who has yet to be officially identified, died after a metal gate she was helping a school employee close fell on her at the end of the school day at Centennial Elementary, 2200 West Wetmore Road.

The heavy metal gate fell when it disconnected from its support, school district officials have said.

A GoFundMe page to help pay for the girl’s funeral had raised more than $30,000 by Tuesday evening.
