Michael Scott Sanders

A Tucson man was arrested Monday for trying to lure a young girl into having sex with him, a police official said.

Michael Scott Sanders, 34, was booked into the Pima County jail and faces one count each of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual contact with a minor, Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

β€œThe Tucson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit was made aware of an individual in the Tucson area who had an interest in meeting with an underage female for sexual acts,” Widmer said.

After investigators identified Sanders, they made arrangements to meet with him. Sanders thought he was meeting an under-aged girl, Widmer said.

He was being held on $7,500 bond.

It is not the first time Sanders has been in trouble with the law. In 1999, he was found guilty in Tucson City Court of criminal damage, and in 2002 he was found guilty of false reporting of an emergency.
