Here are some Tucson-area Memorial Day events open to the public:

Monday, May 30

• Tucson VA Medical Center, 3601 S. Sixth Ave., will hold a ceremony at 10 a.m. in the R.E. Lindsey Jr. Auditorium, located in Building 4. Guest speakers are U.S. Reps. Raúl Grijalva and Martha McSally.

• Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will hold a ceremony at 8 a.m. There will be a wreath laying, guest speakers and an F-16 flyover. The cemetery is at 15950 N. Luckett Road in Marana.

• East Lawn Palms and South Lawn cemeteries will hold Memorial Day ceremonies at 9 a.m. Both events include guest speakers, music and an F-16 flyover. East Lawn is at 5801 E. Grant Road; South Lawn is at 5401 S. Park Ave.

• McCulloch-Wagner American Legion Post 109, 15921 S. Houghton Road in Corona de Tucson, will host a ceremony at 10 a.m. The event will also include an F-16 flyover.

• Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Road, and Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, will celebrate memorial Mass and hold ceremonies. Bishop Gerald Kicanas will preside over the Mass at Our Lady of the Desert at 8:30 a.m.; the Rev. Miguel R. Mariano Jr. will celebrate Mass at Holy Hope also at 8:30 a.m. There will be light refreshments afterward.

• The Tucson Estates community, 5900 W. Western Way Circle near South Kinney Road and Ajo Highway, will host a parade and ceremony beginning at 8 a.m.

Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Road, will hold a ceremony at 9 a.m. Refreshments will follow the event.

Also, the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing, based in Tucson, is planning several F-16 flyovers on Monday. Two jets will fly over the following locations:

  • Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Ceremony, Marana, 8:35 a.m.
  • East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 9 a.m.
  • South Lawn Cemetery, 9:05 a.m.
  • Tucson Estates Park, 9:10 a.m.
  • Green Valley Mortuary, 18751 S. La Cañada Drive, 9:15 a.m.
  • Purple Heart Park Tucson, 10050 E. Rita Road, 10 a.m.
  • McCulloch-Wagner American Legion, Corona de Tucson, 10:05 a.m.
