Bernie Sanders

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., accompanied by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, speaks during a rally in Portsmouth, N.H., Tuesday, July 12, 2016, where Sanders endorsed Clinton for president.Β

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will return to the Old Pueblo on Tuesday to campaign for Hillary Clinton.

The former Democratic Presidential candidate will hold rallies in both Tucson and Flagstaff on Tuesday, confirms Miraym Lipper, a spokesperson for the Clinton campaign.

The Tucson rally will be held on the Main Stage on the University of Arizona campus.

It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.

At the event, Sanders is expected to discuss raising the minimum wage, using more sustainable energy sources, making public colleges and universities tuition free and solutions to fix what he sees as a broken criminal justice system.

He has used both the Tucson Convention Center and Reid Park to hold rallies for his campaign in the past with both events drawing thousands of supporters.

The city of Tucson has billed Sanders and Republican nominee Donald Trump separately for tens of thousands of dollars for police protection for their rallies held at the TCC.

The Sanders campaign has disputed the charges, while the Trump campaign has not formally responded.

Councilman Steve Kozachik has suggested that the city should hold off on any further rallies be held at the TCC until the city has been paid back.

With the event held on campus, the city of Tucson is unlikely to have to shoulder any costs - with security expected to be handled by the University Police.

"I just want these financially overstuffed campaigns to quit expecting taxpayers to be left to cover their costs, whether those are logistics, security or whatever," Kozachik said.

A recent visit by Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence was held at the Fox Theatre, with city officials saying the TCC and the city-owned Music Hall were not available due to construction.
