Spend your lunch break with J.A. Jance on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The “Dance of the Bones” author will answer readers’ questions about her new book and her novels. The chat is at noon, but questions may be submitted at any time.

“Dance of the Bones” is the second in the Star’s online reading group.

Much of the action in Jance’s 51st novel is set on a Tucson Festival of Books weekend . You’ll recognize many of the places — from Redington Pass to Sells — and the Speedway traffic.

The story weaves an intricate tale with seemingly separate mysteries — a cold case murder and the abduction of two teens. Former Arizona sheriff Brandon Walker gets some help from former Seattle detective J.P. Beaumont in this mostly Arizona-set story.

The tone of each chapter is set by Tohono O’odham lore, which reflects to an extent the modern mystery that unfolds.

We also are wrapping Jance’s J.P. Beaumont novella, “Stand Down,” published in July, into the conversation.

It is a brief, 86-page prelude to “Dance of the Bones.”

To participate in the chat go to tucson.com/jancechat and post your questions. Questions may be submitted at any time, but they will not show until the chat on Oct. 6.

If you can’t join the live discussion, the transcript will be available later.
