My book group is reading “Half of a Yellow Sun” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It’s a book I would not usually choose. And that’s one of the reasons I love my book group — it pushes me to read different genres by authors not on my radar.

In addition to exploring new books, these groups are also a chance to explore and expand on deeper issues posed in the books or from a tangent discussion.

Book clubs are small communities, a group of people who gets to know each other, with whom you are comfortable and can be silly or serious. (If you don’t feel that way, find another group.)

But that’s my book group. We’d like to know more about what your book group is reading and share it. Let us know your club’s pick in the comments section in the online version of this story at tucson.com/bookfest or email abrown@tucson.com
