It was a dog-filled day for the Tucson Fire Department, as crews rescued five puppies from a north side house fire and also rescued a dog that was stuck in a hole.
Wednesday morning, a crew responded to reports of a dog trapped in a hole, in the area near North Wilmot Road and Park Place mall, said Tucson fire spokesman, Capt. Barrett Baker.
It took firefighters nearly an hour to rescue Jack the dog from the hole, as crews tried to dig around the dog to help get him free.

Although Jack had some trouble standing immediately after firefighters pulled him to safety, he's in good condition and should make a full recovery, Baker said.
In another dog rescue, firefighters responded to a house fire in the area of North Stone Avenue and West Fort Lowell Road after the occupant called 911 from inside the house.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke, but saw five puppies on the porch, who they quickly pulled to safety, Baker said.
The puppies' mother escaped the fire, and the group was reunited shortly after.
