An 8-month-old girl who nearly drowned was rushed to the hospital Friday afternoon by paramedics.

The baby's condition was not known, said Capt. Barrett Baker, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.

He said all near drownings are considered life-threatening.

At 2:33 p.m., paramedics were dispatched to the 1700 block of East Spring Street for a child who was found in a swimming pool, Baker said.

The neighborhood is north of East Grant Road and west of North Campbell Avenue.

Paramedics rushed the baby to the hospital where she arrived 10 minutes later.

He said he did not know how long the baby was in the swimming pool before she was found.

No details about the incident were immediately available.
