Moving a $20 million mirror

The mirror for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope moved Tuesday morning from its birthplace at the University of Arizona's Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab to storage in a hangar at Tucson International Airport. It will eventually travel by highway, ship and mountain road to Cerro Pachon, a peak in the Andes Mountains of Chile.
