Northwest Fire District responded to two crashes this morning, on westbound Interstate-10 at Cortaro Road, involving six vehicles and eight occupants.

Two crashes, involving six vehicles and eight passengers, temporarily closed part of Interstate-10 this morning, authorities said.

As Northwest Fire was on the way to a three-vehicle collision on top of the Cortaro Road overpass of westbound I-10 shortly before 10 a.m., a second three-vehicle crash occurred a short distance away, said Capt. Brian Keeley, a department spokesman.

In the first crash, one of the vehicles had rolled, while the other two sustained little damage. Each vehicle had one person inside, and no one was injured in the collision, Keeley said.

The second crash involved five people, one of whom was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The other four people were uninjured, Keeley said.

Westbound I-10 between the Cortaro Road off-ramp and on-ramp was temporarily closed, causing a large delay in traffic.

The left two lanes are now open.
