Martha McSally's Senate campaign is attacking her Democrat rival in a series of new ads this week, including one that casts doubts on Kyrsten Sinema's support for Luke Air Force Base.
The new 30-second ad titled "Luke Air Force Base" says Sinema cannot be trusted when it comes to recent statements about her support for the military, pointing to statements she made in 2002 in a questionnaire sent out by the Arizona Republic.
The ad notes Sinema told the newspaper that she did not support keeping Luke Air Force Base open.
Helen Hare, a campaign spokeswoman for the Sinema campaign, said the ad is misleading and doesn't focus on the numerous votes that the Phoenix Congresswoman cast in support of the air base.
βItβs a fact that Kyrsten has voted repeatedly to boost investments in Luke Air Force Base," she noted. "Congresswoman McSally has built her campaign on false attacks on Kyrsten."
Text of the ad:
Narrator:
"Luke Air Force Base- Over 3000 active duty service members, 70 percent of the worldβs F-35 pilots. Employing thousands of Arizonans and keeping us safe. But Liberal Protester Kyrsten Sinema wanted to shut Luke Air Force Base down, a devastating blow to Arizona and to America. Now Sinema is shamelessly lying about her dangerous extreme views. Liberal Protester Kyrsten Sinema canβt be trusted."
