The intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Plumer Avenue has been closed Wednesday morning due to an active investigation regarding reports of an armed man in the area, officials say.

Tucson Police officers are investigating reports of an armed man near the 2200 block of East Broadway Boulevard this morning, affecting traffic this morning in midtown.

Details are limited, however, the intersection of East Broadway and South Plumer Avenue was briefly closed Wednesday morning, officials said in a post to X, formerly known asΒ Twitter.

In an update made by the department about 9:30 a.m., it was announced that the intersection was reopened.

Midtown officers, Tucson Police SWAT as well as hostage negotiators successfully deescalated a situation involving an armed man barricaded in a store located at the intersection, officials say.

The affected portion of East Broadway Boulevard has now been reopened. No harm to either officers or members of the public occurred during, officials said.
