Two male residents of a duplex in midtown Tucson escaped a fire Sunday night when smoke alarms woke them.

Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to a 911 call regarding a dumpster fire around 8:40 p.m. They found smoke and flames coming from the outside of a duplex on the 2200 block of North Isabel near East Grant Road and North Alvernon Way, according to a TFD news release Monday.Β

The residents of the duplex were sleeping when the fire began, but smoke alarms woke them up and they left the building before firefighters arrived, according to the news release.

The fire entered the duplex, but firefighters contained it to a bathroom. The cause of the fire is under investigation. TFD said the origin was outside the building.Β Β
