A 59-year-old motorcycle rider was killed Friday afternoon when she slammed into the side of a moving truck making a left turn on Tucson's southeast side, Tucson police said.

About 4 p.m., Shannon Eskridge was riding a motorcycle east on East Golf Links Road near South Pantano Road when she hit the side of a moving truck, police said in a news release.

Eskridge was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and had a valid motorcycle endorsement associated with her driver’s license. She died at the crash scene, police said.

The driver of the truck was making a left turn from a private drive, trying to cross three lanes of traffic to go west on Golf Links, the release said.

The unidentified truck driver, a 41-year-old man, was cited for failure to yield. Neither he nor his passenger was injured in the crash.
