Rain from the first storms of the monsoon have knocked down a brush fire in the Corona de Tucson area southeast of Tucson.
The blaze is on Mount Fagan in the Santa Rita Mountains, south of Wentworth Road and Sahuarita Road.
It's likely lightning sparked because of the storm activity. The Tucson area saw its first storms of the summer monsoon today.
The storms hit the Santa Catalina Mountains hard, with 1.3 inches of rain reported on Mount Lemmon Highway near the Palisades Ranger Station. Other areas of the mountains received up to half-an-inch of rain today, according to Pima County Regional Flood Control District gauges.
A single-engine air tanker, engines and ground crews have been assigned to the blaze. An initial estimate puts the fire at about 5 acres.
