KVOA-TV Channel 4 news anchor Kristi Tedesco is leaving the station to pursue a position outside of broadcasting.
Tedesco, who has won praise for her coverage of childrenβs issues since joining KVOA in 2004, posted news of her departure Wednesday on her Facebook page.
Her last day with the station will be Aug. 4.
βAfter almost 13 years at KVOA, I will be leaving for a new adventure in less than two weeks,β Tedesco wrote, adding that she will reveal more later but for now she is focusing on her transition and getting her two boys ready for school.
In an announcement Tedesco said was made to her co-workers Tuesday, KVOA News Director Cathie Batbie-Loucks said Tedesco would be greatly missed.
βKristi has been a huge asset to our television station for over 12 years and a wonderful advocate for Arizona children,β Batbie-Loucks wrote, citing Tedescoβs βKristiβs Kidsβ campaigns to raise donations for car seats, school supplies, swim lessons and pool fences.
At KVOA, Tedesco won two regional Edward R. Murrow awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association, one for her look back at the murder of a Tucson child, and another for her investigation into worker safety at Arizona's Child Protective Services.
A 1994 graduate of the University of Arizona, Tedesco spent 10 years working as a TV reporter and anchor in Kansas and Indiana before joining KVOA.
