A 65-year-old man investigators believe was "either pushing or sitting in a wheelchair" was struck and killed crossing East Speedway Sunday night, Tucson police said Wednesday in a news release.

The crash happed about 9:45 p.m. near North Magnolia Avenue, between North Swan and North Craycroft roads.

Mark Ellis Brenner, 65 was dead at the crash scene, the release said.

Police say Brenner was in an unmarked crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Blazer. The driver, a 45-yer-old man, stopped and cooperated with police, the release said.

The crash, the eighth fatal pedestrian death in Tucson so far this year, is still being investigated.
