A personal chef in Tucson has become the star of a viral video, for his overly-simple tutorial on mixing cheeses for pizza.
Chef Michael Neylan has been a personal chef in Tucson for about 10 years, moving here from Connecticut. Neylan graduated from J.M Wright Culinary School, has more than 25 years of restaurant and catering experience and works as a private chef for people with dietary restrictions from things like diabetes, weight loss and gluten-free diets.
Here’s excerpts from a short email exchange:
How did you react to the video going viral initially, and did that change after it topped 1 million views?
I actually made that video in 2012, and it didn't go viral until December 2015. I started getting emails through my website from people all over the world about it.
At first I was shocked that it went viral because obviously it is a silly video about mixing cheese.
But I realize now it has gotten me a lot of publicity.
Was it good for business?
I have gotten a lot of great comments (also funny ones, but the best was a bunch of high school kids who watched all my videos and made pizza together.
If being made fun of for making a silly pizza video gets people cooking then I am all for it!
