Tucson police detectives said two men are facing murder charges in the fatal shooting of a Tucson man at a south-side business on Jan.6.

Police arrested 26-year-old Ariel Montes-Deoca and 22-year-old Hector Molina in the killing of 61-year-old Anthony Quintela, who was a bystander gunned down during an armed robbery.

Both men were already in the Pima County Jail on unrelated charges. They now are facing charges of first-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon, and multiple charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say Quintela was shot as a gunman fled Dulceria Funland, 702 W. Irvington Road, after robbing the cashier. Quintela later died at Banner-University Medical Center.

Quintela's son, Michael, was at the store when his father was killed.

"This man was my world," Quintela said at a press conference for local unsolved homicides. "This is a kind of pain I wouldn’t wish on anybody."

Detectives were able to identify the two suspects from additional witness information paired with evidence collected at the scene, the department said.
