The price for music star Linda Ronstadt's former home in Colonia Solana has been lowered from $1.6 million to $1,495,000.
"People think the house is absolutely beautiful," said Russell Long of Long Realty on Wednesday. He is the listing agent along with his wife, Christine Long.
"We just need to find the right party who wants to live in and care for a historic home on a historic estate size lot," said Long of the property that was put on the market about six months ago. The sale price was brought down about three weeks ago.
The 1929 Mediterranean-style house totals more than 4,200 square feet β with a clay-tile roof, porches, mahogany doors, oak hardwood floors and balconies with views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. It sits on 1.27 acres of lawns, gardens and patios.
The property is in the neighborhood nestled between Reid Park and East Broadway, just east of South Country Club Road.
Ronstadt, a native Tucsonan who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, bought the house in 1994 and lived there with her two children, and hosted many family gatherings and celebrations. She moved to San Francisco years ago. She has Parkinson's disease and is retired.
About 15 potential buyers have looked at the house. About 60 percent were Tucson residents and 40 percent were from out-of-state, said Long.
The house is not selling, said Long, partially because there is a "lack of high-end buyers for the central part of Tucson. You find high-end buyers go into the Foothills and out northwest," possibly looking for more seclusion.
The house has been advertised around the world in slick, glossy magazines, including "Homes & Land". It was featured on MSN Entertainment, in the Robb Report and also on luxuryportfolio.com
"We figure that now is our time to sell. I believe it will sell between now and June. The snowbirds are here now, and the students are here. It is surprising the number of homes purchased by parents of students who want a place in town when they come visit," said Long.
