The Arizona Game and Fish Department will start stocking trout around the state this week, with Tucson lakes being stocked on Wednesday.

The first week of November marked the final stocking this season of catfish, which will be restocked next March. But as cooler temperatures return, trout are incorporated into the stocking program.

Game and Fish will add 6,110 pounds of trout to lakes and ponds in Arizona this season. Due to scheduling changes with vendors, the department will begin stocking trout in some areas Monday and finish Wednesday.

Monday’s lakes that will be stocked include: Payson’s Green Valley Lake, Mesa’s Red Mountain Lake, Gilbert’s Water Ranch Lake, Tempe’s Evelyn Hallman Pond, Surprise Lake in Surprise and Peoria’s Pioneer Lake and Rio Vista Pond. Phoenix will be stocking up at Papago Ponds, Steele Indian School Ponds, Encanto Lake, Alvord Lake, Desert West Lake and Cortez Lake.

On Wednesday, Tucson’s Kennedy, Lakeside and Silverbell lakes will be stocked. Sahuarita Lake will also get new fish along with Maricopa’s Copper Sky Lake, Tempe’s Kiwanis Lake, Mesa’s Riverview Lake, Scottsdale’s Chaparral Lake and Chandler’s Veterans Oasis and Desert Breeze lakes.
