Tucson police are searching for a man who is named in an arrest warrant for two counts of aggravated assault in connection to a hit-and-run causing serious injuries, police said.
Caleb Armando Flores Castro, 21, is a suspect in the crash that injured two men, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman, on Thursday, Oct. 5.
On Sept. 30 shortly before 6:30 p.m., police and paramedics responded to a report of a serious injury hit-and-run involving pedestrians at East Sixth Street and North Park Avenue. Police found a man with life-threatening injuries and he was taken to a hospital, Bay said.
Two other men, who also were pedestrians, had left the scene before police arrived, but eventually went to a hospital, said Bay.
Traffic detectives learned that four men had been riding in a blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when an argument began. Three men exited the car at Park and Sixth and began walking southwesterly across a dirt area.
The driver of the Cruze drove onto the sidewalk area and struck one of the men and brushed against another, said Bay. The third man was not injured. The driver fled the scene.
Later that evening, a 911-caller reported a suspicious car parked in the area of East Fairland Stravenue and South Country Club Road. Police responded and found the abandoned vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, said Bay.
Detectives identified the driver as Castro and obtained the arrest warrant. He is described as a Hispanic man who is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He may possibly be in Mexico, Bay said.
Anyone with information on Castro's whereabouts is asked to call 911, or 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster hotline.
