lights and sirens

A motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a truck on Tucson's north side Saturday morning, police say.

It appears he ran a red light before the crash at the 1st Avenue and Fort Lowell Road intersection, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson police spokesman.

The man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to a hospital.

Dugan said the truck driver remained at the scene to cooperate with detectives.

Officers shut down the intersection around 5:30 a.m. It was reopened several hours later.

No further information has been released.
