The Cody Fire started Wednesday afternoon in the Coronado National Forest near Oracle, about 40 miles north of Tucson.

A community meeting is scheduled at 4 p.m. today to discuss the Cody Fire, which has burned for days north of Tucson near the community of Oracle, officials say.

The meeting will be held a Biosphere 2, 32500 S. Biosphere Road, in Oracle.

Firefighters in Saturday made significant progress fighting the wildfire, increasing its containment from 5 percent to nearly 50 percent, the fire's Incident Management Team said Sunday in a news release.

The Cody Fire has burned more than 1,200 acres since it started Wednesday afternoon in the Coronado Forest near Oracle.

About 500 people are assigned to fight the blaze that has prompted evacuations, which remained in effect Sunday morning.

The cause of the blaze is still being determined.

On Sunday, crews were were expected to continue patrols of the area and extinguish hot spots while conducting mop-up operations along containment lines, the release said,

Crews also were to identify and address damage and repair needs across the fire area. They were working with utility providers and local officials to proceed with a safe return for evacuated residents, the release said.

Evacuation Centers remained open at Canyon Del Oro High School, 25 W. Calle Concordia in Oro Valley and the Mammoth Community Center, 101 W. 5th St.

Hot and dry weather conditions were expected to continue Sunday with wind gusts of up to 25 mph, officials said.
