Four newly elected justices of the peace will assume their duties Jan. 3 in Pima County Consolidated Justice Court.
According to a news release, the justices are:
- Native Tucsonan Paula Aboud is a former state senator, and teacher and coach at Rincon High School. She is a graduate of Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. She will serve Precinct 6.
- Erica A. Cornejo is a graduate from law school at the University of Arizona and worked for the Pima County Attorneyβs Office for seven years in the misdemeanor and juvenile divisions. In January 2014, she opened a law firm and practiced in the areas of dependencies and delinquencies in Pima County Juvenile Court. She will serve Precinct 2.
- Charlene Pesquiera is a former state senator and former college professor who taught criminal justice courses. She received a masterβs in business administration from the University of Phoenix, a liberal arts degree in pre-law and criminal justice from Prescott College, and an associateβs degree in criminal justice and corrections from Pima Community College. She will serve Precinct 4.
- Vince Roberts served three terms as a Pima County constable in Precinct 10. He retired from state law enforcement after serving 26 years in positions including patrol, a sergeant for motorcycle officers, a DUI officer and undercover narcotics officer. He will serve Precinct 10.
