What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Shawna Rodriguez.

Nominated by: Gloria Soto-Wilson.

Why: For her work as interim principal at Tucson High Magnet School. Rodriguez cares deeply and passionately about the students, their families and school staff, Soto-Wilson wrote in her nomination letter. She grew up near the school and her father also taught at the high school. Rodriguez’s connection to Tucson families is what keep her striving to provide the best education to students, Soto-Wilson wrote. The hours of dedication that she puts in are countless and she never complains, even while raising her young family, Soto-Wilson wrote.
