Shooting at La Encantada

Pima County Sheriff deputies gather outside Firebirds Grill at La Encantada following hours of interviewing witnesses to a shooting that left two men dead on Friday, April 14, 2017.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department on May 2 released audio recordings of 911 calls made to report a shooting at Firebirds restaurant at La Encantada on April 14.

Tucson Fire Capt. Frederick Bair shot and killed Eliot Cobb inside the restaurant during a struggle. He then shot and wounded his ex-wife in the bathroom of the restaurant before turning the gun on himself.

His ex-wife, Mary Jo Bair, suffered a gunshot wound to her left leg. She told investigators that her ex-husband was stalking her and had threatened to kill anyone she was with, according to investigative reports that were also released.

Mary Jo Bair and Cobb were friends who had gone to the restaurant to celebrate Cobb's online company, eBags.com, being sold to Samonsite.

The audio files were released along with nearly 150 pages of reports filed by deputies and investigators about the incident.
