A woman who was struck by an SUV last week while walking on Tucson's west side died on Monday, police said.
The woman was walking in the 1300 block of West Ajo Way, west of Interstate 19, on Sept. 23 when she climbed over large concrete barriers that were separating the road from the construction site,Β Tucson police said in a news release. Β
The woman was walking northbound about 230 feet away from a crosswalk when she was struck by the eastbound SUV, police said.
The driver did not stop after the crash, police said.
Detectives are contacting family before releasing the woman's name.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about incident is asked to call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster line.
