U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft from Tucson are now in Texas, helping with rescue efforts during historic flooding from Hurricane Harvey.
CBP’s Air and Marine Operations sent four UH-60 Blackhawks from Tucson to Houston on Friday and Saturday to help with rescues. The CBP here also sent 12 air crew members, five support personnel and three search-and-rescue agents who are experts at swift-water rescues.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. Monday, air crew members from Southern Arizona conducted a hoist-rescue of four individuals trapped in their home by flood waters, the agency said.
In addition, Tucson Sector Border Patrol will send 50 Special Operations Detachment agents Tuesday to support public safety operations in Texas.
