A Sierra Vista man is facing attempted second-degree murder following a reported shooting Thursday morning, police said.
Juan Laborin-Rodriguez, 20, was taken into custody shortly after 6 a.m. and was booked into the Cochise County jail, according to a news release.
In addition to attempted second-degree murder, Laborin-Rodriguez also faces aggravated assault, misconduct with weapons as a prohibited possessor, possession of marijuana and burglary.
Shortly before 6 a.m., police responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the 100 block of North Canyon Drive. When officers arrived, a man said he had been shot at about four to six times after being approached by a group of angry men who came to his house, authorities said.
The victim was not struck.
Detectives worked the scene, conducted interviews and canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence. Officers located Laborin-Rodriguez, who was walking in the neighborhood, and detectives learned he was the suspect in the case.Β Β Β Β
Detectives are continuing the investigation and working to determine the motive.Β
