Approximately 48 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine were seized at the border on Friday.

A Tucson woman was arrested by border agents after attempting to smuggle around 48 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine into the United States on Friday, officials said.

The 23-year-old woman's car was further inspected when a drug dog alerted officers to an odor in the vehicle at the Dennis DeConcini border crossing, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.

Officers found more than 13 pounds of heroin and 34 pounds of meth. This equates to $333,000 combined, the release said. The woman was arrested and the drugs were seized.

No further information was immediately available.
