A motorist in Sahuarita is pulled to safety from a disabled vehicle by a Rural/Metro Fire Department crew Sept. 27, 2016 after rain.Β

A driver whose car was stuck in running water in Sahuarita was helped to safety by firefighters Tuesday evening after it rained in the area.

No one was injured in the incident, said Battalion Chief Jay Karlik of Rural/Metro Fire Department.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a crew responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in running water on Sahuarita Road, west of Wilmot Road, said Karlik.

When a crew arrived, they found the disabled vehicle in the road with water rushing through the low-lying area, and helped the driver to safety.

Karlik said motorists need to avoid low-lying areas and washes when the possibility of flooding exists.

Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms is the forecast for Tucson and the surrounding areas through Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

On Wednesday, there is a slight chance of rain in the morning with possible showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, said the weather service. The high is expected to be between 85 to 91 degrees.
