A man was struck and killed Saturday night while standing in a traffic lane on Tucson’s north side, police say.

The crash happened about 7:45 p.m. on North First Avenue near East Fort Lowell Road, Tucson police said in a news release.

The man who was struck died at the crash scene. His name was being withheld Monday pending notification of his family, the release said.

The man was standing in the northbound median lane of First Avenue when he was struck by a northbound 2016 Mazda 3, investigators said, citing witnesses and forensic evidence.

The unidentified driver, a 33-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. No citations were issued and the crash investigation continues, the release said.
