A 67-year-old man was located by Tucson police at a local hospital after being reported missing by his family Tuesday night.
Tucson police were asking the public for help in locating Mario Rodriguez, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a department spokesman, on Dec. 19.
Unbeknownst to his family, Rodriguez was admitted to the hospital Saturday after he was found on the ground following a bad fall, Dugan later said.
When Rodriguez arrived at the hospital, medical staff didn't know who he was. He's now recovering and his family has been updated on his whereabouts, Dugan said.
Rodriguez, who only speaks Spanish, was last seen about 1 p.m. Saturday walking near his home in the 2700 block of North Estrella Avenue, said Dugan.
The neighborhood is north of East Grant Road and east of North Stone Avenue. Dugan said Rodriguez is not yet diagnosed with dementia, but his family believes he is in the early stages and are "extremely concerned for his well-being."
Relatives told police that he does not have a vehicle, cell phone or identification with him, and has never left home without talking to family members, Dugan said.
