Some services are being affected by the heavy rain that hit Tucson and the surrounding area today:

  • Pima Community College has canceled all classes tonight at all campuses because of the weather. The college also is allowing employees to leave work early. The district is planning to open as usual on Tuesday.
  • The Marana Unified School District said because of flooding and street closures, school buses will likely be running late in picking up and dropping off students. The district canceled all after-school activities.
  • Sunnyside said via Facebook that there will be no bus service for students at Desert View High School, Challenger Middle School, Santa Clara Elementary School and Summit View Elementary.
  • Amphitheater is alerting parents that some buses may be delayed. "Due to the heavy rain and flooding today, school buses may be delayed. In the event that our bus drivers feel it is unsafe to drop off students at their scheduled stop, the bus will return to school with the students, and parents/guardians will be contacted."
  • All Pima County Public libraries will be closing at 5 p.m. today because of weather. Also, the Library Advisory Board meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. today has been canceled.
