If you’re looking for things to do with kids in Tucson, the Arizona Daily Star has something just for you.

Our newest offering, #ThisIsTucson, focuses on stuff to do, food, education and Tucson culture. A staff of six, working out of a downtown office at 1 E. Broadway, creates and posts daily stories and videos.

Stories range from serious to light, but all are written in a conversational tone. Readers can share their reactions to each piece via a set of Tucson-centric emojis that include Sonoran dogs, “A” Mountain, a javelina and a range of emoting saguaros.

The name #ThisIsTucson combines the title of a Star video show called “This is Tucson” and a popular hashtag, #this, which means, roughly, “I agree.”

Before launching #ThisIsTucson, a team of Star journalists led by Irene McKisson — now the editor of #ThisIsTucson — and reporter Becky Pallack spent several months reading existing research, conducting an online survey and talking with nearly 100 Tucson women about the kind of information they need and how they want to get it. With the results in hand, the team created multiple ways to reach potential readers:
