The Arizona Trail, shut down from Oracle to Kearny due to the Romero and Circle wildfires that started July 19.Β

Lightning caused both wildfires burning near Kearny, about 75 miles north of Tucson, fire officials said Tuesday.Β

The Romero Fire, 13 miles southwest of Kearny, has reached 7,000 acres with 40% containment and the Circle Fire, 14.5 miles south of Kearny, has reached 2,800 acres with 35% containment,Β the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said.Β

Both fires were Type 3 for firefighting purposes, but will be downsized to Type 4 Wednesday to allow resources to be used against other fires.

The fires, which started July 19, led to the closure of the Arizona Trail between Oracle and Kearny and to a temporary flight restriction.

While the SET evacuation status placed on 3C Ranch was lifted for the Romero Fire, due to both fires Stage 1 fire restrictions have been placed on certain State Trust lands in Pinal County.
