What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Barbara Eiswerth, founder and director of Iskashitaa Refugee Network.
Nominated by: Gina Gresham, a volunteer with the organization.
Why: For her passion, generosity and the impact she has made on many people through the organization she started in 2003, which provides 100,000 pounds of produce annually to refugee and other nonprofits through its gleaning program. “She is truly a brilliant woman who is at once compassionate and strong-willed, and who cares deeply for her clients and coworkers,” Gresham wrote in her nomination letter.
